District of Columbia has been taking proactive steps to ensure unclaimed property gets reunited with its rightful owners. It is not only participating in the state run and managed fairs but has started a program where residents can invite over their team in a community gathering to educate people on unclaimed property. State has initiated a program to auction the unclaimed property on eBay. Unclaimed property does not include real property like land or cars or boats etc.
Prospective claimants can easily search online on their website if they are owed. They can download the claim form and attach requisite documents as suggested by the state officials. This has to be sent to the state governments’ treasurer. Claims are processed within 30 days and rightful owners are paid with check on the address mentioned on their claim form.
For holders who wish to report more than 25 properties, it is advisable to e-file the report and dispatch the report in a diskette.
State’s treasury can be contacted on working days on weekdays through mail, email or on phone support. In case you are owed you will be contacted by the state officials. They will send you detailed information on what all documents would be required to reunite you with your unclaimed property. The claims will take a processing time of 60-90 days. And that’s not all! You can check the status of your claims online. Any negligence on your part including inability to send requisite documents might delay the claim.
Holders in the state are required to report unclaimed property to the state once a year. This helps the state to update and maintain their website. So that prospective claimants and holders can be presented with most recent information. State is piling up with the claims every month and at the same time with new unclaimed property reports. Don’t be a mere spectator and make a claim if you are owed.

Many of us think about building muscles as deserting life outside of the gymnasium and devoting hours in the gymnasium like a friar in a priory.
